Laser Skin Resurfacing
Our Waltham med spa offers a unique skin resurfacing treatment that uses radiofrequency technology to gently heat the skin’s deeper layers, creating smoother skin and minimizing the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. eMatrix Sublative® is similar to fractional laser skin resurfacing, but with less damage to the skin’s external layer and limited downtime.

Customized Skin Resurfacing
The versatility of the eMatrix device gives us the ability to tailor each treatment to the specific needs of our patients. In addition to treating unwanted wrinkles, scarring, and stretch marks, the eMatrix can address loose skin by combining the Sublime treatment device with a Sublative procedure. The treatment is cleared by the FDA and is safe for all skin types and colors. It works on darker skin, unlike many treatments that use light waves produced by lasers, because eMatrix uses fractionated bi-polar radiofrequency (RF) technology. You may also want to ask about Exceed™ medical microneedling, a non-laser treatment cleared by the FDA to treat acne scars and facial wrinkles that involves less downtime.

The Sublative applicator used for skin resurfacing patients heats tissue deep below the skin’s surface in a matrix pattern, leaving much of the skin’s surface untouched. The combination of radiofrequency energy and infrared light triggers the development of new collagen, elastin, and healthy skin cells, which results in smoother, more youthful looking skin. The fractionated technique is similar to that used by Fraxel® laser treatments but requires less downtime.

What to Expect
What sets apart the eMatrix sublative treatment from other fractional laser procedures is that it produces dramatic results without the downtime you would normally expect for those types of outcomes. Treatment sessions are generally completed in less than 45 minutes. Downtime varies from individual to individual but is approximately 48 hours with the skin remaining mildly rough for 3 to 5 days after the treatment.
You’ll probably notice a tightening effect after the first treatment. Improvement in the skin’s texture occurs gradually as you undergo additional treatments. Three to five treatment sessions completed over the course of 3 to 5 months can significantly reverse signs of aging and minimize the appearance of scars or stretch marks. You’ll see continued improvement for months after your final treatment. The aging process continues, of course, but the results can last for years.
