Laser Skin Tightening

Customized Skin Tightening

The range of nonsurgical skin tightening treatments has expanded significantly with the technological advances of the past 10 to 15 years. Instead of applying a one-size-fits-all approach to every patient, we offer procedure choices that are ideally suited for specific concerns and desired outcomes. Because we have different treatment platforms available, we can customize procedures to be more or less aggressive.

For most laser skin tightening patients, we use either the GentleMax Pro laser or eTwo fractional radiofrequency (RF) with the Sublime™ applicator. Even though the technologies differ, both procedures work by heating deeper layers of the skin to encourage the production of collagen and elastin, which are the fundamental elements of smoother, tighter skin. We also offer Exceed™ medical microneedling, a non-laser, minimally invasive procedure that treats both acne scars and wrinkles with less downtime than laser skin treatments require.

The choice of laser depends on your cosmetic goals, your preference, and the physical examination of your skin performed by our laser specialist. In some cases, we might recommend combining treatments such as Sublative skin resurfacing or Photofacial to treat other skin conditions.

Ideal Candidates

Loose skin and wrinkles are among the most common concerns of both men and women who want to retain a youthful appearance. Many years ago, the only options were surgery or laser treatments that required lengthy downtimes. Technological advances in radiofrequency devices now make it possible for patients to undergo nonsurgical skin tightening with only minimal recovery times.

Nonsurgical laser skin tightening is an excellent treatment option for patients with mild to moderate skin laxity who want to minimize wrinkles and tighten lax skin. Women and men who don’t need—or who want to avoid—plastic surgery can benefit from nonsurgical skin tightening procedures.

What You Can Expect

Sublime skin tightening may be mildly uncomfortable during treatment, but the discomfort should not persist after the procedure. The sensation is often described by patients as a “hot pinch.” There is no downtime associated with this treatment and you can plan on returning immediately to work or resume your normal daily activities. Your skin may appear to be slightly red with light swelling immediately after the treatment, but you can apply makeup and other skin care products. The redness and swelling typically dissipate within a few hours and rarely persist longer than that. Cooling through the tip of the laser device provides additional comfort throughout the treatment.

Results

As with all skin-rejuvenation treatments, long-term results vary depending on the individual, the number of treatments, and the conditions being treated. Patients may see the full results of their procedures anywhere from 3 to 6 months following the last treatment. Treatments to maintain the results are usually recommended every 6 to 12 months.
